This was Lennon's laconic comment on the recording of The White Album. Edwin Faust of Stylus Magazine described it as "foremost an album about musical purity (as the album cover and title suggest). In fact, only in sixteen tracks out of thirty tracks, you can hear the four Beatles together.

Regardless of the studio drama, The White Album received excellent reviews from critics, although some found its message superficial given the political climate of the time. The White Album reached number one on the charts in the United Kingdom, and it is still considered one of the greatest albums of its generation.

This year, after months of speculations, Paul McCartney confirmed that The White Album will be reissued for its 50th-anniversary.
